Kris Allenization: An Epic Experience

On February 6, 2010, I woke up at 6:00am to have my powerpoint presentation done for my prelimanary exams in my tour guiding subject. Due to an intense excitement for Kris Allen’s concert on the night of that day, I wasn’t able to finished it all and hit the bathroom right away. I think it was 11:30am when I went bathing. It was past 1:00pm when I left our house in Gapan and headed to Manila. At around 4:00pm, I reached EDSA and hopped off the bus in front of SM North EDSA and rode a jeepney going to España. I had to go back to our dorm first to get my keys because if I didn’t, I couldn’t get inside when I got home. After I got my keys, I went straight at Trinoma and I met some people who would also watch the concert. We used a taxi cab to get to Mckinley Hill, Taguig, where the concert would happen. I forgot what the exact time was when we came in the venue. By the way, the ticket I bought was Silver. It costed PHP 3160. I liked the portion I was into. I was so near the stage. It was like I was just four rows away from the last row of the VIP section. The concert started at 8:00pm. The opening act was the Boyce Avenue. I’m not pretty sure if they performed more than an hour but it seemed like that. They sang their newest original hits. The crowd tried to sing along with them except me who didn’t have any idea about their songs. I was there for kris Allen. Haha But I knew some of their covers though. I used to sing it when I was in HS. After their set, Channel [V] VJs came out on stage as hosts. For the first time, my latest celebrity crush that time Georgina Wilson was there! I was like, “she’s so gorgeous.” I couldn’t believe that I would see her. It was amazing for me. I loved her legs and the way she stood! Gaaaah. Awesome. She’s one of the Filipinas I admire. After the hosts took time to greet, they called out the Jabbawockeez on stage. I’m not a fan of Jabbawockeez. I always hear lots of things about them even before. But, I never got interested to them. Sorry for that. It was their second time to perform in the Philippines. The first one, according to them, was four months ago and what they did were mall shows. While they were doing some poppin’ and lockin’ as they dance, the audience couldn’t take it! And I’m one of those who shouted, screamed, and slightly grooved to the beat of the music. I loved the way they kicked asses! Haha I must say, they are total performers most especially in dancing. Their acts on stage were fantastic that I didn’t get bored while they were doing breakdancing unlike what I always got watching other groups. One of the funniest things was when they danced to the tune of “Ocho-Ocho,” a Filipino alternative song. I totaly had no idea they would do such thing. Haha I applauded them for that! Before they had left the stage, they took off their masks and one of them introduced the names of the members. According to them, they had a great time performing here which I actually believe. Their energy was terrific! They as if didn’t get tired to think that the intervals of their performances were just a minute or two. After their turn, the hosts came out on the stage again. Meaning, I saw Georgina again. Haha The guy hosts were ppretty annoying. But they’re fun watching too. Before they called out Kris Allen, they had a game for us. They gave away CDs with Kris Allen’s signature on it. they also asked few audiences to sing some of Kris Allen’s songs. The break took most probably for thirty minutes or so. Finally, after that, the long wait was finally over. Kris showed up on stage! The crowd was going crazy the moment Kris appeared in front of us. That was unforgettable. He sang Heartless first and followed by the other songs off his album. He also sang some of the songs he performed on Idol. His set was very enjoyable. I may not be the biggest fan of him but I am a fan! During his Idol days, I agreed with Kara calling him as the Dark Horse in the competition. And look, it paid off. He’s the Season 8 American Idol. Wow. During the concert, Kris told that he loved the Philippines even if it made him sweat. Haha I think he hates the climate we have here. LOL =)) But it’s not an issue! :P While he was performing, I thought of I really made the right choice to come. Imagine, if I didn’t, there’s no other way I can see him in person! We don’t know if he would come back here any time soon and maybe not at all. If I had though like seeing him in the future in other places, it wouldn’t be as fun as he was here in the country. All I spent on concerts paid off. Woot! Anyways, going back to my concert experience, I also  loved when he sang The Truth. That song is my second favorite song from his album. While he was singing it, I recorded that moment using just my phone. Haha The Truth is so cool. And the coolest, which he perfromed third to the last, is, of course, Live Like We’re Dying! Kris FTW for that. Yay. That’s the part when I was like living like I’m dying just trying to sing along with him with some steps that weren’t fit the beat of the music. Haha I couldn’t control myself! I was taken by the flow of the audience. It was very fun though. That’s my most favorite part of the concert! I undoubtedly love that. Woot! Haha The concert ended before 12:00am. After the concert, we went at EDSA Shangrila to do some stalking. Haha Yeah, that’s how desperately we were just to have a picture with kris. We waited for him patiently to arrive and, voila, we saw him and he’s just few steps away right where we were! Unfortunately, he didn’t let us to have a picture with him. He looked so tired when we saw him before he went up to his room using the stairs. Yes, he didn’t use the elevator and I had no idea why. The huge bouncer who was protecting Kris while we were begging him to stop for a picture told us that Kris didn’t allow to take pictures with him anymore because Kris was very exhausted. And We understand that. But should I respect it? LOL Just kidding. And there Kris went away, leaving us with no picture with him. :(( On a bright side, I just made myself rejoice seeing Kris Allen from just 3 steps away from where I was standing. That’s cool enough. Haha We left EDSA Shang at around 2:00am and I reached my dorm at around 2:30am. I slept at 3:00am because I had to wake up before 7:00am because I had my field work for my NSTP. Bah! But then again, I slept with smiles drawn on my face and thinking of the Kris Allenization as I fell asleep. Yay. I’m proud that I didn’t miss the concert! :) It’s unforgettable, epic, and historical. ;)
